(Entrepreneur vlog day 4)
There is a formula for being excellent. Be me #humblebrag!!
Ok in all seriousness if you where to ask reasons why people stop doing something or why they aren’t good at what they are doing, I bet you would get about a billion different answers.
But when you take a look at the root of all those issues I believe it comes down to one thing.
IS YOUR WHY BIGGER THAN YOUR BUT?
Why are you doing what you are doing? Why is it important for you to achieve your goal no matter the odds? I believe your WHY has to be much bigger than your but. If not, every small hick up will stop you from achieving your desires.
Your why is the reason you get up in the morning and take on the world?
Your WHY must be for a selfish reason
This might seem controversial but I honestly believe if your why isn’t for a selfish reason it won’t be big enough. For example, lets say your why for starting a business is help others learn how to master the financial world, get out of debt, and live a happier life. A noble cause and one I full support. Business is tough, there is no doubt about it. What happens when you are struggling to get your initial clients, traffic to your website, and some traction on social media? If your why is about helping others and your not able to achieve it, you will get frustrated and quit.
A selfish why pushes you, where as a noble why is reliant on others to achieve.
If on the other hand, your why is VERY SELFISH, you will continue to persevere and push past all obstacles because you desire it. If your WHY is to get out of debt, live a happier life, and master the financial world. Than you will continue to master those arts, and share your journey with others. Helping others becomes an awesome side benefit.
Humans by nature are selfish creatures. If you don’t believe me, look at why you do selfless things like charity work. It is because it makes you feel really good. This doesn’t make you a bad person for being selfish, the goal is to leverage that selfishness to motivate yourself and do great things.
Find your selfish why
This is the thing that will push you to perform your best no matter what. If it takes you 2 hours or 10 hours you will not quit till you win. Finding your selfish why takes an enormous amount of self awareness and confidence. Self awareness to know what your true motivation factor is, and confidence to accept whatever it is despite when others say it is wrong to be driven by that.
Practice Every Day
Excellence is the sum of time + improvement. Simple as that. Every day you go do anything, be it writing an article, building a website or digging a ditch, do it better. Never “go through the motions”, and never give up.
The only way to achieve greatness is to shoot for it over and over again, no matter how much you fail.
A healthy baby never fails to walk. No matter how many times that baby falls down, it will always get back up. A baby never quits, so be a big baby! Get your butt up and walk. Sure you might first have to crawl, take small baby steps with help, but eventually you will be moving and grooving.
Ask for Help
Learning something new or getting better at something isn’t always easy. To be the best you have to beat the rest. There are millions of people competing for that top spot, but here is a secret, you have just as much a shot at winning as anyone else. Alls you have to do is ask for some help when you need it. Ask someone better than you, take the feedback, push yourself. A baby doesn’t give up walking, it asks for help and before you know it is walking like a champ.
The first time I wrote a blog article, it looked like a hot mess. Now I can crank out awesome content easily. This is only due to me asking for help from 20+ different people. People like my girlfriend who minored in english, people like my friends who are major writers, and anyone else I can find. Asking for help doesn’t make you weak, it actually makes you very strong.
Don’t believe me check out one of my new favorite motivation video.
